Authenticated open redirect via prefix-matched iframe source
Published May 3, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Open redirect in GitLab CE/EE before 15.8.5, 15.9.4, and 15.10.1 allows remote authenticated users to redirect viewers via Markdown. InlineObservabilityFilter matches link targets by string prefix instead of validating the parsed origin, causing lookalike observe.gitlab.com hosts to become unsandboxed iframe sources. An attacker must publish crafted Markdown and a viewer must open the affected page; the framed page can navigate the top window or repeatedly make that page inaccessible.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
