Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Stored XSS in Saan World Clock 1.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via crafted shortcode attributes. The w_clock shortcode outputs attacker-controlled attribute content into a page without validating or escaping it, allowing event-handler markup to persist. Contributor-level access is required to save the payload, and JavaScript runs when another user views the affected page or post.
