Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 25, 2025
Stored XSS in Florent Maillefaud Send PDF for Contact Form 7 before 0.9.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The shortcode handler outputs attacker-controlled attributes without validation or context-appropriate escaping, allowing an event handler to persist in a page. Contributor access is sufficient, and the script runs when a higher-privileged user visits the injected page, enabling actions within that user's browser session.
