Arbitrary file access via uncontrolled search path
Published Jun 13, 2023 · Updated Jan 3, 2025
Uncontrolled search path handling in Synology DSM, DSMUC, and SRM allows remote authenticated users to read or write arbitrary files. The flaw is in Backup Management's search-path handling, but Synology has not disclosed the affected file, routine, or exact input flow. Administrator privileges are required, and the documented consequence is limited to arbitrary file reads and writes rather than service interruption or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
