CVE-2023-0105Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account impersonation via stale email-verification state

Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 9, 2025

Improper workflow enforcement in Keycloak before 22.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate or lock out other users. IdentityBrokerService updates a federated user's email during forced identity-provider synchronization without clearing the existing verified flag when Trust Email is disabled. Exploitation requires a brokered realm with forced synchronization and an attacker-controlled upstream account; reusing another user's email can shadow that account.
