Unauthorized client creation via unchecked token revocation
Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 9, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Keycloak 20.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create clients with a revoked token. The /clients-registrations/openid-connect endpoint accepts a revoked service-account access token without checking revocation before registering a client. Exploitation requires a token issued to a service account with create-client or manage-clients rights, permitting unauthorized client creation and resulting access or data modification.
