Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Stored XSS in Arno Welzel Timed Content before 2.73 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted shortcode. The timed-content-client shortcode copies an unescaped hide attribute into HTML, so a quote can end the value and inject an event handler. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload, and a viewer must open the rendered page before the script can act with that viewer's site privileges.
