Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode layout attribute
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Stored XSS in the Youzify WordPress plugin before 1.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The youzify_author_box shortcode places the layout attribute into page output without validating or escaping it, permitting an event-handler payload. Contributor-level access is required to embed the shortcode, and the stored script executes when another user visits the affected page or post.
