Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Unquoted service path handling in Telcel Flame II HSPA USB Modem allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges. The auto-start modem service registers C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Telcel\ApplicationController.exe without quotation marks, allowing Windows to select an attacker-planted executable earlier in the spaced path. A local user must be able to write such an executable into a searched parent directory; successful exploitation runs it when the LocalSystem service starts.
