Root shell via unrestricted sudo binary replacement
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Vertiv Cyclades ACS Advanced Console Server 1.0.0 through 3.3.0 allows local users to gain root access. The default /etc/sudoers configuration lets the admin user and admin-group members run privileged file-movement and execution utilities without command restrictions. An authenticated appliance shell and admin-group membership are required; replacing /bin/sed with /bin/bash and invoking it through sudo opens a root shell.
