LocalSystem code execution via unquoted service path
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Unquoted service path in HTC VIVE Runtime Service 1.0.0.4 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as LocalSystem. The ViveAgentService configuration passes C:\Program Files (x86)\VIVE\Updater\App\ViveRuntimeService\ViveAgentService.exe to Windows without quoting the space-containing path. A local user must place an executable in a searched parent path; service startup or reboot then runs it with full system privileges.
