Service interruption via leaked UVC unit buffers
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
Resource leak in affected Linux kernel versions beginning with 5.12 allows local users to exhaust memory during failed UVC probing. The uvc_gpio_parse function allocates a unit buffer before requesting the privacy GPIO IRQ and fails to free that buffer when the IRQ lookup returns an error. Reachability requires a UVC device configuration with a privacy GPIO whose IRQ lookup fails; repeated failed probes consume kernel memory and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
