CVE-2022-50869

Kernel memory corruption via oversized log-page copy

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Slab out-of-bounds write in Linux ntfs3 allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory by mounting a crafted NTFS volume. During first log replay, read_log_page can copy a page-size region into r_page while r_page still points to a 4 KiB DefaultLogPageSize allocation. The path requires an NTFS mount or automount; the oversized write can panic the host kernel and corrupt adjacent heap objects.
