CVE-2022-50850

Kernel warning via stale reboot notifier registration

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Improper cleanup in the Linux kernel ipr SCSI driver from 2.6.34 allows attackers to trigger a kernel warning during driver initialization. If pci_register_driver() fails, ipr_init() returns without unregistering ipr_halt, leaving the reboot notifier registered. A later registration attempt reaches notifier_chain_register() with the stale callback and emits the warning; no crash or data impact is reported.
