CVE-2022-50840

Use-after-free via stale snic target entry

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel snic SCSI driver from 4.2 allows attackers to cause unspecified impact during target discovery. If device_add() fails in snic_tgt_create(), the function frees the target without removing its list node from snic->disc.tgt_list, so later traversal dereferences freed memory. Public sources identify neither an attacker-controlled way to force that failure nor a consequence beyond the possible use-after-free.
