CVE-2022-50829

Kernel memory corruption via failed USB resubmission

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux ath9k USB Wi-Fi driver allows local users with high privileges to corrupt kernel memory through USB activity. ath9k_hif_usb_reg_in_cb can free an skb already released by ath9k_htc_rx_msg when usb_submit_urb fails, creating a double-free path. The vulnerable path requires the ath9k_htc USB driver and a failed USB request resubmission; the published record does not establish code execution.
