CVE-2022-50825

Local denial of service via leaked fwnode reference

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Resource leak in the Linux wusb3801 USB Type-C driver allows local users to reduce availability after failed hardware initialization. The wusb3801_probe function acquires the connector firmware-node reference, but its wusb3801_hw_init failure path returns without balancing it with fwnode_handle_put. The path requires local low-privileged access, the wusb3801 driver, and failed WUSB3801 controller initialization; published sources identify no specific crash or hang outcome.
