CVE-2022-50822

Local kernel compromise via RDMA restrack use-after-free

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux RDMA restrack subsystem allows local users to disclose or corrupt kernel memory through concurrent MR operations. The rdma_restrack_del path skips completion waiting and rdma_restrack_put during deletion, letting ib_dereg_mr_user free an MR while fill_res_mr_entry retains and reads its reference. An unprivileged local user needs an RDMA device or SoftRoCE and access to uverbs nodes; exploitation can disclose data, corrupt memory, crash the kernel, or exhaust kernel memory.
