Kernel service interruption via mismatched parameter getter
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel allows local users to interrupt kernel operation by reading a Hisilicon ZIP module parameter. The sgl_sge_nr callback passes a u16 object to param_get_int, which reads four bytes as an int instead of using the matching unsigned-short handler. Reachability requires local access and the hisi_zip parameter; published evidence does not establish code execution or data modification.
