CVE-2022-50811

Service interruption via leaked EROFS metadata buffers

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Resource leak in the Linux EROFS compressed mapping path allows local users to interrupt service through a failed extent lookup. z_erofs_do_map_blocks returns from a z_erofs_get_extent_compressedlen failure without calling erofs_unmap_metabuf, retaining the mapped metadata buffer. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access to exercise the affected EROFS path; repeated failures consume kernel memory and impair availability.
