Kernel panic via uninitialized MTS64 interrupt pointer
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux ALSA MTS64 driver allows local users with module-loading access to trigger a kernel panic. During a failed snd_mts64 probe, snd_mts64_interrupt dereferences the uninitialized mts device pointer when a parallel-port interrupt arrives. Reachability requires the MTS64 and parallel-port drivers plus privileged module-loading access; repeated module insertion can panic and reboot the host.
