Kernel resource leak via unreleased eventfd reference
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Resource leak in the OCXL driver in Linux allows local users to retain eventfd references through a failed interrupt-handler setup. In afu_ioctl(), eventfd_ctx_fdget acquires a reference, but the error path after ocxl_irq_set_handler fails omits eventfd_ctx_put. Access to an OCXL accelerator device and a handler-setup failure are required; the published record does not demonstrate a broader impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
