Kernel crash via premature mt76 status work
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel mt76 USB Wi-Fi driver allows attackers to crash the kernel during device startup. The mt76u_status_worker runs while the device is not yet running, and its transmit-status path dereferences an uninitialized pointer. Reachability requires an affected kernel with the mt76 USB driver and a device-startup state that schedules status work before initialization completes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
