Resource leak via unreleased ksmbd IPC identifier
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Resource leak in Linux kernel 5.15 allows attackers to retain a ksmbd IPC identifier after an RPC-open failure via unspecified vectors. In ksmbd_session_rpc_open(), a failed ksmbd_rpc_open() call leaves the identifier allocated by ksmbd_ipc_id_alloc() because the error path omits ksmbd_rpc_id_free(). Linux has not published how an attacker forces that failure or what operational consequence follows from repeatedly retained identifiers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
