Kernel crash via premature mt7921e removal
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Kernel crash in Linux 5.18 through 5.19.16 and 6.0 through 6.0.2 allows local users to interrupt service by unloading mt7921e. mt7921_pci_remove() calls cancel_work_sync() through missing mt76_dev driver data when removal races with an unfinished probe. Triggering the crash requires module-management privileges, an mt7921e PCI device, no interface activation, and removal within about one second of insertion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
