Kernel memory leak via unfreed control request
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Memory leak in Linux kernel 5.19 through affected 6.x branches leaves kernel memory allocated after a virtio-crypto error. The virtio_crypto_alg_skcipher_close_session() error path allocates vc_ctrl_req but exits on an invalid ctrl_status status without freeing it. Reaching the leak requires a virtio-crypto device and an invalid close-session response; published sources do not define an attacker path or resulting service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
