Kernel panic via uninitialized KASAN page tables
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 5.18 through 6.0.6 allows attackers to cause a kernel panic during KASAN shadow-memory access. During kasan_populate, newly allocated base_pud or base_p4d tables omit a copy of the corresponding early-shadow table, leaving mappings that fault on shadow-memory reads or writes. Exposure requires a RISC-V kernel built with CONFIG_KASAN in Sv48 or Sv57 mode; the public record does not identify the attacker's trigger.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
