Kernel panic via BPF trampoline page permissions
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Linux kernel 6.0 allows local users to trigger a kernel panic by attaching a BPF kretfunc while livepatch is active. After an fentry registration retry sets BPF_TRAMP_F_ORIG_STACK, arch_prepare_bpf_trampoline writes im->image while its page remains read-only executable, causing a page fault. Triggering the fault requires local privileges to load a livepatch and attach a BPF kretfunc; the bounded consequence is a kernel panic that interrupts the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
