CVE-2022-50618

Kernel crash via unchecked host-addition failure

Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel allows attackers to crash the system during removal of a failed Meson GX MMC host. The meson_mmc_probe() path ignores an mmc_add_host() error, leaks the host allocated by mmc_alloc_host(), and leaves removal to call mmc_remove_host() for a device that was never added. The condition requires the Meson GX MMC driver, a host-registration failure, and later device removal; the documented consequences are the leak and a null-pointer kernel crash.
