CVE-2022-50543

Local kernel compromise via mr->map double free

Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025

A double free in the Linux RDMA/rxe driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through an InfiniBand uverbs registration request. When rxe_mr_init_user() fails after allocating mr->map, it frees the mapping before rxe_mr_cleanup() frees the same pointer again. An unprivileged local user can trigger this error path when a SoftRoCE device and user-verbs access are present, enabling kernel memory disclosure, writes, privilege escalation, or a kernel crash.
