CVE-2022-50486

Local denial of service via callback type mismatch

Published Oct 4, 2025 · Updated Oct 4, 2025

Denial of service in the Linux kernel's TI NetCP driver allows local users to crash the kernel through packet transmission. The netcp_ndo_start_xmit callback is registered where netdev_tx_t is required but returns int, so kCFI rejects the indirect call. Reachability requires CONFIG_CFI_CLANG and the TI NetCP driver; failure causes a kernel panic or kills the calling thread.
