CVE-2022-50482

Service interruption via leaked IOMMU security domain

Published Oct 4, 2025 · Updated Oct 4, 2025

Resource leak in the Linux kernel Intel IOMMU subsystem allows local users to interrupt service via failed IOMMU initialization. The init_dmars() error path returns without releasing the allocated si_domain object, leaving kernel memory permanently consumed. The path is reachable only when Intel VT-d initialization fails; public sources do not identify an attacker-controlled method to cause that failure.
