CVE-2022-50472Network attack vector

Remote hang via sleeping MAD tracepoint call

Published Oct 4, 2025 · Updated Oct 4, 2025

Denial of service in affected Linux kernels allows remote attackers to hang the InfiniBand MAD completion path via MAD packets. The ib_mad_recv_done_handler tracepoint calls the potentially sleeping ib_query_pkey function while the ftrace ring buffer is in atomic context. Reachability requires an RDMA or RoCE interface with the MAD tracepoint enabled, and the documented consequence is limited to a warning, deadlock, or host-side processing hang.
