CVE-2022-50454

Kernel memory corruption via failed PRIME import

Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 1, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel Nouveau driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through a failed PRIME buffer import. When nouveau_bo_init fails, ttm_bo_init has already invoked nouveau_bo_del_ttm to free the GEM object, but nouveau_gem_prime_import_sg_table then calls nouveau_bo_ref on the released nvbo->bo. Access to a Nouveau DRM render or primary node is required; successful exploitation enables kernel-memory read, write, or a host crash.
