CVE-2022-50437

Kernel memory corruption via oversized HDMI bridge chain

Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 1, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in affected Linux kernel builds allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through an oversized MSM HDMI bridge chain. The MSM HDMI bind path increments a bridge counter and writes each bridge into a fixed eight-entry array without first enforcing that limit. Triggering the flaw requires a local, low-privileged user and a system whose MSM HDMI configuration presents more than eight bridges; corruption can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
