CVE-2022-50433

Kernel crash via premature ACPI table free

Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 1, 2025

Use-after-free in the EFI SSDT loader in Linux kernel 6.0 through 6.0.3 and 6.1-rc1 allows local users to crash the system. The efivar_ssdt_load function frees the buffer after acpi_load_table succeeds, leaving the ACPI core with a reference to released memory. The flaw occurs only when an EFI variable contains an SSDT that the ACPI core accepts; later table use can produce KASAN errors or a kernel crash.
