Host interruption via absent dynamic xstate copy
Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 1, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 5.16 through 6.0.6 allows local users to interrupt the host through a KVM vCPU ioctl. copy_feature attempts to copy an absent dynamic component from the all-zero init_fpstate representation, causing memcpy to dereference NULL. A KVM vCPU file descriptor and compacted XSAVE dynamic state are required; the fault affects availability without reported data exposure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
