Service interruption via ASoC probe refcount leak
Published Sep 18, 2025 · Updated Sep 18, 2025
Reference-count leakage in the Linux kernel allows local users to interrupt service through the MediaTek MT8183 ASoC driver. In mt8183_mt6358_ts3a227_max98357_dev_probe(), an error path retains the reference returned by of_parse_phandle() instead of releasing it with of_node_put(). Reachability requires the affected MT8183 audio device-tree configuration and a probe failure; the published assessments report availability impact only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
