CVE-2022-50361

Local kernel crash via missing network-device unregister

Published Sep 17, 2025 · Updated Sep 17, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux WILC1000 driver allows local users to crash the kernel during device initialization. In wilc_netdev_ifc_init(), an alloc_ordered_workqueue() failure frees a registered network device without first calling unregister_netdev(). Triggering requires WILC1000 device initialization and the allocation failure; the reported consequence is an invalid-opcode kernel crash.
