CVE-2022-50353

Kernel crash via unchecked host-registration failure

Published Sep 17, 2025 · Updated Sep 17, 2025

Denial of service in the Linux kernel wmt-sdmmc driver allows local users to crash the kernel during device removal. In wmt_mci_probe(), the driver ignores an mmc_add_host() error, leaks the host allocation, and leaves removal code to delete a host that was never registered. Reaching the crash requires local access, a failed MMC host registration on hardware using the driver, and subsequent device or driver removal; the reported consequence is a kernel crash.
