CVE-2022-50298

Kernel crash via leaked probe resources

Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025

Resource cleanup failure in Linux allows local users to crash the kernel during Qualcomm NGD driver probe deferral. The qcom_slim_ngd_ctrl_probe function returns after PDR allocation or lookup errors without unregistering the SSR notifier or releasing the PDR handle, so a deferred retry registers stale resources again. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and a system using the Qualcomm SLIMbus NGD controller while driver probing is deferred; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.
