Kernel crash via unchecked property-name allocation
Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in affected Linux kernel builds allows local users to crash the kernel during battery-information retrieval. A failed kasprintf allocation leaves propname NULL in power_supply_get_battery_info, which passes it to of_get_property for strcmp-based lookup without a NULL check. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and allocation failure while battery data is read; the documented consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
