CVE-2022-50254

Local denial of service via probe resource leak

Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025

Resource leakage in the Linux kernel OV8865 camera driver 5.17 through 6.0.6 allows local users to interrupt service. When media_entity_pads_init() fails in ov8865_probe(), the driver returns without completing endpoint cleanup, leaking allocated resources. Exploitation is local and low-privileged, and the public record does not identify a deterministic trigger for the failing probe path.
