Kernel memory corruption via transmit-path double free
Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025
Double free in the Linux kernel 5.1 before 6.2 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory by sending large TCP payloads over Wi-Fi. The iwlwifi MVM transmit path frees an skb when iwl_mvm_tx_skb_sta fails, then frees the same buffer again while unwinding a TSO construction error. Any unprivileged local process using an affected Intel Wi-Fi interface can trigger kernel use-after-free, crashes, or lockups without user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
