Kernel panic via missing swapper UXN flags
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 5.13 through 5.19 allows local users to panic the kernel on arm64 systems implementing FEAT_EPAN. The arm64 swapper PTE and PMD flags omit UXN, causing idmap_kpti_install_ng_mappings to fault when it accesses __idmap_kpti_flag through the protected identity map. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and affected arm64 hardware; the bounded consequence is a kernel panic and host service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
