CVE-2022-50184

Local service interruption via HDMI node refcount leak

Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2026

Resource leakage in the Linux kernel Meson HDMI encoder allows local users to interrupt service during encoder initialization. The initialization path obtains a remote device-node pointer with of_graph_get_remote_node() but fails to release its incremented reference with of_node_put(). Exposure requires an affected kernel with the Meson HDMI driver and a matching device-tree graphics configuration; the published impact is availability only.
