Local service interruption via device-tree reference leak
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Resource leakage in the Linux kernel EHCI PowerPC Open Firmware probe path allows local users to exhaust resources and interrupt service. The ehci_hcd_ppc_of_probe function retains each device-tree node returned by of_find_compatible_node because it omits the matching of_node_put release. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and the affected PowerPC probe path; the published assessment reports no confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
