Kernel crash via NULL shared HCD removal
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 5.19 through 5.19.1 allows local users to crash the kernel during system reboot. xhci_plat_remove passes xhci->shared_hcd to usb_remove_hcd without first checking whether the shared host-controller pointer is NULL. The affected xHCI platform configuration has a root hub without ports, and controller teardown during reboot produces a kernel Oops that interrupts the reboot sequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
