Service interruption via leaked device-tree reference
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
A reference-count leak in the Linux kernel ASoC MT8173-RT5650 driver allows local users to interrupt service during device probing. The mt8173_rt5650_dev_probe function retains the reference returned by of_parse_phandle on several error paths instead of calling of_node_put. Reachability requires the affected audio configuration; public sources do not disclose the local trigger or whether interruption appears as a hang or crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
