Local service interruption via remoteproc refcount leak
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Reference-count leak in the Linux i.MX remote processor driver allows local users to interrupt service during device initialization. The imx_rproc_addr_init function retains references returned by of_parse_phandle on two exit paths because it omits the corresponding of_node_put calls. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and a kernel using the affected i.MX remoteproc driver; the published assessment reports no ability to read or alter data.
